La Boutinais
There are 5 families living here in the hamlet of La Boutinais .
Two of our neighbours are diary farmers who also grow maize and cereal crops. The field next to us is the 'maternity wing' and we often see new born calves there. The retired husband and wife next door keep geese, chickens rabbits and a couple of ewes - the new born lambs are a joy to behold. Paulette our neighbour is source of information
The barn where we live was built in 1953 after the War. In it was the milking parlour, tractor store and a grenier (hayloft). The barn and the cottage were set in an orchard of around 30 apple, pear and cherry trees. We have kept many of the fruit trees but have been working hard since 2003 to landscape the area into a garden. It's an ongoing task and each year we achieve a little more. Putting together the album for this page brought home to us just how much we have done - but there is still a way to go!
Digging out new flower beds we have come across artifacts from the war and there are even bullet holes in the roof of the well!- if you're interested take a look at la Boutinais Images when it is completed.
